Paragraph 17.2
Chapter 17: Of Perseverance of the Saints
This Perseverance of the Saints, depends not upon their own Free Will, but upon the Immutability of the Decree of Election, flowing from the free and unchangeable Love of God the Father, upon the Efficacy of the Merit and Intercession of Jesus Christa and Union with him, theb Oath of God, the Abiding of his Spirit, and thec Seed of God within them, and the Nature of thed Covenant of Grace; from all which ariseth also the Certainty and Infallibility thereof.e
a. Romans 8:30; 9:11, 16
Romans 8:30
8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
8:30 And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.
Romans 9:11; Romans 9:16
9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
9:11 Yet before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad, in order that God's plan of election might stand, 9:16 So then, it does not depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.

b. Romans 5:9–10; John 14:19
Romans 5:9–10
5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
5:9 Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him! 5:10 For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!
John 14:19
14:19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
14:19 In a little while the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live.

c. Hebrews 6:17–18
Hebrews 6:17–18
6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
6:17 So when God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of the promise, He guaranteed it with an oath. 6:18 Thus by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be strongly encouraged.

d. 1 John 3:9
1 John 3:9
3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
3:9 Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God's seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.

e. Jeremiah 32:40
Jeremiah 32:40
32:40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.
32:40 I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never turn away from doing good to them, and I will put My fear in their hearts, so that they will never turn away from Me.
