James 2:18; James 2:22
2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
2:18 But someone will say, "You have faith and I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 2:22 You see that his faith was working with his actions, and his faith was perfected by what he did.

c. 1 John 2:3, 5; 2 Peter 1:5–11
1 John 2:3; 1 John 2:5
2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
2:3 By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments. 2:5 But if anyone keeps His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him:
2 Peter 1:5–11
1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
1:5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; 1:6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 1:7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 1:8 For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1:9 But whoever lacks these traits is nearsighted to the point of blindness, having forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. 1:10 Therefore, brothers, strive to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never stumble, 1:11 and you will receive a lavish reception into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
