Paragraph 10.2
Of the Westminster Confession of Faith (1646)
This effectual Call is of Gods free, and special grace alone, not from any thing at all foreseen in man,1 who is altogether passive therein, until being quickened and renewed by the holy Spirit,2 he is thereby enabled to answer this Call, and to embrace the grace offered, and conveyed in it.3
The 1689 Baptist Confession
10.2
This Effectual Call is of God’s free and special Grace alone, not from any thing at all foreseen in Man, nor from any Power, or agency in the Creature, co-working with his special Grace,1 the Creature being wholly passive therein, being dead in Sins and Trespasses, until being quickened and renewed by the Holy Spirit, he is thereby enabled to answer this Call, and to embrace the Grace offered and conveyed in it, and that by no less2 Power than that which raised up Christ from the dead.3
